Tina Belcher Inspired Hat
This week’s project is inspired by one of my all-time favorite TV shows Bob’s Burgers. My favorite character is Tina Belcher and I thought, hey why not make a hat that’s inspired by her signature hairstyle and yellow barrette? Behold, the Tina Belcher hat!
This project is perfect for finishing up yarn leftovers. The hat itself takes less than one skein and the ‘barrette’ less than a few feet of yarn. Maybe the next project will be a knit version of her t-shirt and skirt ensemble, who knows?! :-p

Cast 54 stitches onto the circular needles.

Repeat Round 1 five more times.
Pattern: Body
Knit every round until piece measures 5 inches from the cast one edge.
Pattern: Crown
Round 3: *K7, k2tog, repeat from * to end of round. (48 stitches)
Round 5: *K6, k2tog, repeat from * to end of round. (42 stitches)

Cut the tail and thread it through the remaining stitches. Weave it into the inside of the hat. Weave in the other ends and you’re done (for now)!
The main hat pattern is inspired by Purl Soho’s Super Soft Merino Hats for Everyone; used with permission from Purl Soho.
Pattern: Scallop Edge
On bottom edge of hat, place crochet hook into a space between stitches. Make 1 ch and then 1sc into first st. This is to secure the yarn onto the hat’s bottom edge.
* 5dc into next stitch, miss 2 stitches, 1sc into next stitch, miss 2 stitches **
Repeat from * to **
Pattern: Yellow Brooch
Chain 11 stitches. Single crochet around entire perimeter of chain. At the top and bottom of the chain, make 1 ch to increase and keep the oval flat. Repeat previous round for wider oval. Bind off and sew in ends. Cut piece of felt that’s slightly smaller than oval. On bottom side of felt, sew the pin back to felt and then on top side, sew the crochet oval.
That’s it! Hope you enjoy your new Tina Belcher inspired hat, Bob’s Burgers fan! :)
